Sam Koff
Sam Koff is a Richmond, Virginia-based producer, composer, and trumpeter whose work bridges the worlds of jazz, hip-hop, and cinematic beat-making. He is a longtime and active member of the acclaimed brass ensemble No BS! Brass, a genre-defying band known for its electrifying performances and inventive fusion of styles. With No BS! Brass, Koff has performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, NPR's Tiny Desk Concert, Montreal Jazz Fest, Jazz à Liège in Belgium, Les Fanfarfelues in France, and Zadar Jazz Fest in Croatia. The band's innovative approach and high-energy shows have earned them recognition as one of the premier brass bands in the world.
He also toured with Sufjan Stevens, gracing stages like Coachella, Red Rocks, the Hollywood Bowl, Boston Calling, and Pitchfork Festival.
Transitioning into production, Koff developed a distinctive sound characterized by handcrafted samples, lush horn arrangements, and melodic storytelling. His collaboration with rapper McKinley Dixon on the 2023 album Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!? garnered critical acclaim, earning spots on year-end best-of lists from Rolling Stone, Paste, The Line of Best Fit, and more. He continued this partnership on Dixon's 2025 release, Magic, Alive!, contributing to its rich, genre-blending soundscape.
Under the moniker Skoff, Koff released his debut beat tape Tanook33 Era Transmissions, featuring collaborations with artists like Reggie Pace and Undead Greg. His production style—often built from scratch using samplers like the SP-404—reflects the collaborative spirit and experimental ethos of Richmond's vibrant music scene.
In addition to his production work, Koff remains a regular performer with No BS! Brass, Redrum, Pay Rent Brass Band, and R4ND4ZZO BIG B4ND, continuing to explore new musical terrain through live collaboration and experimentation. His multifaceted career continues to evolve, rooted in a deep appreciation for melody, community, and innovation.

Love to the legends, Cypress Hill. Stoked and honored to be a part of this.
Recently, I travelled to New York to play a set at King of What (breaking jam/battle feat DJ Premier) with Pay Rent Brass Band. Long story short a venue curfew led to hundreds of people in the streets, and we ended up playing the music to the finals in an abandoned lot. One of the more chaotic and exciting experiences I’ve had.
